Much more engaging than Initiation so far. The whole Initiation mini-series seemed to have no impact at all- in fact, I think it may be one of the most forgettable Halo comic series yet. There's like a battle with Insurrectionists or something, Palmer's being annoying, and none of the characters have any personality. That's why I really appreciate the dynamic that's been building between Lasky and Palmer throughout Spartan Ops and this first issue. Seems like Lasky is the only person/thing she actually cares about.

The weakest part of the comic seems to be the art though. It didn't look terrible, but it just wasn't very good. I think that's where Marvel passes Darkhorse- HGN, Helljumper and Blood Line had some really fantastic artwork, whereas Initiation and Escalation have had sort of generic artwork. Judging from the artist's previous work with the Mass Effect comics, he's not a bad artist at all. Maybe just not too familiar with Halo (or faces).

Either way, looking forward to more.
