My Jeb senses tell me that Six's jump wouldn't provide much delta-V as he left the corvette. Even if he jumped directly retrograde, he'd still be at effectively the same orbital velocity, right? Corvette orbit +/- jump vector? So he'd just...keep orbiting for a while, until someone picked him up.

Unless the corvette was in a powered hover as someone above (Quirel?) suggested, which I'm not totally sure I buy - it doesn't seem impossible that all the Sabres and Banshees and the UNSC frigate were in constant powered hovers in addition to their combat maneuvers, but it does feel kinda unlikely.

Orbital mechanics, though! Who's got time to explain that stuff in a story? It's a bit dry. Even the Saber launch doesn't really make any sense, but it looks nice.
