Actualy, I like the idea of having an imperfect map... I'm not entirely sure though how having the levels initialy designed by architects would effect the ease of making there be a map feature.

I think that savegames work sort of like everything with computers: It's security vs ease of use. You have to deside whether you want the savegames secure(so they can't be exploited to already know a level... although, I have a game conceptm, not the one below, that would fix that to an extent. Now all I need is to get a design team...), or easy to use(so that you don't have to replay the whole level again, only to be killed by some stupid sniper at the end)

I've always thought it would be interesting to have a game where you couldn't die, and it was always possible to win, but it could just get incredibly complicated if you screw up too much. Then have there be only one savegame slot, which would be stored whenever you quit, so that when you start up again you are back where you left off. I'm not sure how much fun such a game would be, but it would certainly go a long way towards breaking down the third wall in gaming(that is, of course, if your not dieing was well explained)
