Still my original reasoning stands (I don't think you were trying to disregard it though). The diary--which I had forgotten about while writting my post--would have to be filled in during breaks between missions, or when she's hiding. And unless the information is important, I don't think she'll hide for it.
I think she can't just stand in the open, like she did when she read Chung's log entry in discovery.mpg, because writting in a diary (unless it's done on a keyboard with a single hand perhaps) is too much an 'investment' of her limbs.
