Um... blood is no more a necessary part of anime than it is a necessary part of Oni. A few notable animes, such as Akira and Evangelion do have bloody scenes, but many more work just as well without blood. El-Hazard, Saber Marionette J and Nadesico each have essentially no blood whatsoever, even though they all deal with pretty violent subject matters. Gundam Wing uses blood only sparingly, usually for dramatic scenes (like when Heero is shot in the arm by Duo). Trigun, a series that almost exclusively relies upon gunplay (it seems your contention that blood is a necessary companion to guns) there are only a handful of scenes in which blood is present. If Oni is supposed to be an anime based game, I would think the lack of blood would make it that much more authentic... it would be nice to have people get bloody noses or lips (as is quite common in anime) but such "authentic anime" additions would most likely be trivial at best. In short, Oni's lack of particle effect blood spray I don't think will in anyway decrease the fun factor of the game, while at the same time would go to make Oni more like the anime it is trying to imitate.
