Both sort-of right... A skeletal animation system is when an model is animated by attaching its polygons to bones and then moving the bones. IK allows the bones to interact with each other, standard skeletal animation does not. So to animate a step in a skeletal system you would animate the foot, the shin, the thigh, and so on for the whole body, but in an IK system you could move the feet and the legs would follow. > To what extent this is used in Halo, I don't know. I suspect that the deaths are "processed canned" in that there is a basic animation moving the body that can be altered by the environment. When a certain Covenant is killed during the attack, you can see him start to fall forwards into the ground the same way the Bob starts to fall off the ledge later on, but then he straightens out and ends up liying flat. |
