: Don't get me wrong, there are some areas of the Myth/Myth
: II plot that are _supposed_ to be filled by the player
: (and have), but some people try to fill the bottomless
: pits of the plot (like explaining who the Head is).

No, i don't get you wrong, but you are just plain wrong. The Head is Teirces,
hero of the 2nd Age. He is also the leveler, and every thousand years the hero
past becomes the leveler. For example, Alric will become the leveler
(probably) when the next comet comes if he survives that long. Connacht became
Balor because of that, and Teirces became another evil guy because of that.
Every age has a leveler, and all of them are supposedly killed, but only they
are killed, and the creators of the Leveler make sure he is ressurrected. I am
supplying the internal epilogue for Myth II with this (I don't think this is
in the game at all that one can see, i extracted this with Fear)

[snip epilogue]

Now, you need to know the other parts to make it really sink in, but for now,
just take a look.

Hey everyone,

Before you completely destroy this post and tear me to shreads along with it,
I just want to state that I am not saying that I am right, just that this
seems the best and most logical explanation as to who the Head really is. Now
on to the post...

Alright, in the end explanation of Myth II, the Leveler is explained. Note
that each Great Hero becomes the next Great Evil, so thet each person reigns
for 2,000 years (1,000 for Light, then the next 1,000 for the Dark). So what
happens to all these great heroes/evils after they are defeated?

Perhaps if they are once again put back together, keep in mind that the reason
you threw Balor's Head in the Great Devoid was to prevent him from ever being
complete once again. And the Great Evil's before them were destroyed in a
similar fashion.

One of the deaths that strikes me inparticular is the one where his body parts
were taken to the four corners of the earth. Now the wording is vague on which
Great Evil this was, but it might have been Moagim (Tireces). If this is true,
then perhaps Connacht hid the the head under his most important and sacred of
places, the capital of his Cath Bruig Empire, Muirthemne.

In the introductory sequence, you see a berserk fetch something from a ruined
city. This turns out to be the Head. Also note that in the text for one fo the
Berserk Heroes, Turan of the Hundred Battles, it says that he went into the
corpse filled city of Muirthemne to get something (not verbatum). So this
would be where the Head was taken from and the inroductory sequence shows us
this scene. For all of you who thought the Eblis Stone was taken from there,
it was actually taken from the northern city of Willow I believe, also taken
from another berzerk hero text.

Anyways, since the Leveler leaves each Great Evil once they have been defeated
this would leave that person weakened but not yet dead. So the Head could be
Moagim (Tireces) without the spirit of the Leveler any longer. Imagine being
trapped underneath tons of rock and debris for almost 2,000 years, wouldn't
you have a vandetta for the guy too.

Although this doesn't fit in with the Heads explanation of being one of
Connacht's Lt's i dont see any other valid explantion given this new
information. So please bring some light to this tpoic and hopefully if we can
all work together for once we can finally put this Head issue to rest.

Sincerely,
Pimpy™ -LVIII-

Hey everyone (again),

Well since my first thought was a total flop, why not give it another shot. My
chances of getting it rightare much better now too, although not too great.
Anyway, let's see what we know about the Head...

Hmmm... where to begin... how bout from the time the Head is brought to the
Nine. Well, we know that in order to survive as a Head you would need powerful
magic of some sort. I mean not even a Heron Guard can be a living Head. So
this leaves three options: 1) The Head was one a sorcerror, 2) the Head was
kept alive by another's magic, or 3) the Head is undead. Which one to choose?
I wouldn't know but 3 seems a bit far-fetched so we can always cross that one
out later.

As for who the Head was there are a few options here as well. The Head says he
was one of Connacht's closest advisors. This would more than likely make him a
friend of Damas (Soulblighter). I use the word friend in a very loose manner
here. But at least they would both know Connacht and would probably know each
other being both high ranked persons in Connacht's Empire.

Yet another possibility is that the Head was Moagim, but when he was
destroyed, the spirit fo the Leveler left him weakened and powerless, so now
he is just a talking head, how trite. So with the spirit of the Leveler gone
now, he is once again Tireces and fights for the Light, so to speak. But then
again this theory has no proven facts and would be almost impossible to prove
with the given information so keep in mind this is only speculation.

We do know that some of the Fallen Lords are over a millenia old, so that
would put the Head way up there with those guys in terms of age. And the least
he could be if he knew Connacht would be just over 1,000 years of age in
Myth:TFL and over 1,060 in Myth II: SB. But I figure he is a tad older than
this probably by a hundred or more years or so. So this means that he could
have some rivalries with the ancient Fallen Lords. According to Eidos those
three Fallen Lords from the ancient past are: Soulblighter, The Voiceless One
(aka Shiver or Ravana) and lastly Bahl'al (posibly the Watcher but that is for
another debate all-together). Also note that Myrdred (the Deceiver) is very
old himself, but how old we don't know.

This means that the Head may have also had contact with these now current
Fallen Lords. So what does all this stuff mean? Well at least we know who the
Head may have had contact with that would be around in the current Myth
time-frame. He also had knowledge of great artifacts like the Suit of Armor
that Balor wore (I think anyway). So why the hatred towards Shiver? maybe
Ravana wasn't always evil, just as Myrdred was once Light and is in Myth II.
Who knows the answers to all these questions? But i ask you to piece it
together and open up the can of worms that the Head is now hiding within once
again. Amybe one day soon we can put this issue to rest once and for all!

Sincerely,
Pimpy™ -LVIII- (the order of the 58th Wild Cards)

The Head can't be totally good. If he was why would he set up even fights

: The Head didn't start the civil war, the war just broke
: out over the Head. That is, some people like the Head,
: others thought they had been betrayed (which they had,
: but with good reason). The Head didn't just say
: "Ok, you people are on this side, and you're on
: that side, now FIGHT!". He was just a topic of
: controversy over which a civil war broke out. On the
: other hand, Madrigal fell to The Deceiver in the end,
: so he may have had a hand in the civil war.

Probably the Deceiver started the civil war. Someone asked me a while ago who
captured Madrigal. From Pools of Iron "Before he left, Alric told us that
Madrigal had fallen."
With Shiver fallen, the Watcher dead and Soulblighter in pursuit of the
Legion, the logical choice is the Deceiver, or possibly one as yet unnamned
Fallen Lord.
Furthermore there is the passage from sons of Myrgard:
"Maeldun has lost Bagrada and that The Deceiver crossed the mountains at the
Stair of Grief. Worst of all, what's left of the Nine had it out with The
Head, which had apparently been double-crossing them ever since they pulled it
out of the ground last summer. Something like a civil war erupted back west,
too, as thousands of our own men unexpectedly rose to defend The Head."
So the Deceiver was west of the Cloudspine, could he not possibly have
infiltrated the ranks among the forces of light and sown discord? That would
make the civil war instigated by the dark, and it did lead to the fall of the
cities in the west, depite Soulblighter and the Watcher's force where away in
the west.

Whee! Now that I finished Myth II I can start reading asylum posts again.
"Ding, dong" and all that.

I think the head may have been in league with the Deciever. The head was in
Madrigal for most of Myth: TFL and when the nine figured out he was betraying
them half the population of Madrigal rose to defend the head. First who in the
game has the power to make people switch sides? The only one we know of is the
Deciever. And 2nd which fallen lord captured Madrigal after the cival war was
over, the deciver. The Deciver doesnt like the other fallen so we could
understand why he would want to overthrow balar. This theory doesnt make
perfect sense or explain where the head is during Myth 2 or why he didn't turn
light along with the deciever but it seems logical to me.

my 2 cents.

: We got this in the mail today: > First my name is
: DarkStalker, and I would like to point out that The
: Head
: >could be Balor, for one reason and one reason alone,
: The Stygian Knights are
: >animated suits of armor, so why couldn't Balor have
: done the same thing to
: >make himself appear to be in more than one place at
: once. well bye-bye now.

: Thoughts?

: I have some of my own. Assuming he means that Balor's
: central vessel is The Head and the "Balor"
: unit who we see on The Last Battle, and who Alric
: meets in the desert, is just a suit or armor; there is
: one little flaw. Before "River of Blood", we
: see Balor in his armor without the helmet, and he
: certainly does have a head in there. Likewise, when
: his helmet is cut off on The Last Battle, his head
: comes off with it, and blood pours out. In the 'loss'
: screen for The Great Devoid, we see Soulblighter,
: pulling Balor's head out of it's helmet. So he's not
: just a suit or armor controlled by a severed head
: hundreds of miles away.

: On the other hand, he could mean that the guy we kill on
: The Last Battle is the central vessel for Balor, and
: that the Head is a magically animated "remote
: body" for him, like Stygian Knights are for Baron
: Kildaer, etc. There is no evidence to the contrary of
: this, so it could be possible according to the laws of
: the Myth universe Bungie has given us to work with;
: however, I see no evidence supporting it, so in my
: mind it remains only a possibility and not a
: probability.

Personally, I think The Head is the one who set the the whole Light/Dark cycle in motion, that he wrote the Total Codex, and that he is a sort of anti-Leveler. That is, he works behind the scenes, manipulating all sides, to make a hero arise from the forces of the Light and defeat the reigning Leveler. I say this because it's the only way I can make sense of The Head's claim of being both a former lieutenant of Connacht and an old enemy of Balor, when Connacht and Balor are one and the same. He manipulated events 1000+ years ago, to eventually bring Connacht to power and have him defeat Moagim. But in the process, taking any means neccesary to bring about the required events, he was seen as double-crossing the Light, just like during Myth TFL. This may be where he lost his body, or perhaps he was already a head then and was simply buried when he turned on Connacht.

In Myth TFL, the Head's actions, while sometimes short-term detremental to the Light, play a vital role in forcing Alric to kill Balor. First thing he does is help Rabican defeat Shiver. This wins their trust, and keeps the Light from being crushed at Madrigal. Then he has us retrive the Total Codex, and coincidentally The Watcher is also there looking for it. This gets the Watcher chasing after us. The Head briefly diverts us to destroy a World Knot, keeping Soulblighter's forces east of the Cloudspine. Now somehow, The Deceiver got wind last summer that The Watcher's arm has been lying around Silvermines. Now that he's finally found it, The Head sends us to grab it. They do. Tharsis erupts, the forces of the Light are washed out of the pass, The Watcher catches up with us and clashes with The Deceiver, and we cross through Seven Gates to clean up their scraps. Meanwhile, The Head has sent Alric to retrive a magical suit of armor in the Barrier, but for some reason Balor is also there looking for it. Alric is trapped, and forces are sent to rescue him. Now we're all on the east of the Cloudspine. We head south to enlist the aid of the Forest Giants, where we have our brief stay in the Tain courtesy of Soulblighter, where we retrive the Myrkridian standard. Then The Head instigates a civil war in the West, forcing Alric and the rest of our forces to head out to kill Balor. On the way we use the Watcher's arm to kill the Watcher, as well as free the Dwarven lands.

Now everything comes together. The Head's civil war has forced us to persue Balor directly; The Head's tip about The Watcher's arm, as well as his tip about the Codex (leading The Watcher and The Deciever together), and his tip about the World Knot (keeping Soulblighter out of it), all allows us to escape east with The Watcher's arm, allowing us to kill him and get to Balor; and finally, Soulblighter's sending us in the Tain (who do you think told him about it?) allows us to have the Myrkridian standard, which Alric uses to finally defeat Balor. All because of The Head.
