In Response To: Musinbgs on Myrdred, Bonesplitter, and Shiver (Chuth's Socks)
: First, I think the name Myrdred may have been based on
: Myrddin, a name of Merlin.
I'll add this to the page.
: Second, Bonesplitter sounds more like the name of a
: Myrmidon Avatara.
Perhaps Shiver is a Myrmidon. She certainly is a bony old hag, they have similar vanity problems, etc.
: Could they have been lovers?
: Ewwwwwwww.
Remember the opening lines of the level "Shiver":
Ravanna: "Well, if it isn't Alric's lapdog. Will you bow to anyone who claims the throne of the Cath Bruig?"
Myrdred: "The path to retribution does make for strange bedfellows. Would you not agree, Ravanna?"
Ravanna: "Uuhr!" [throws magic stuff]
: Well, any friendship between them may explain why
: Soulblighter resurrected her and not anyone else.
I think this is a rather good theory. Regarding the above conversation, Myrdred is obviously in retribution for his sins as a Fallen Lord, but Ravanna certainly isn't atoning for anything by serving Soulblighter. Perhaps she and Soulblighter did meet long ago, when Soulblighter was a good guy (Damas), and Shiver began serving him then to make up for some past evil. But then he became Soulblighter, and Shiver became evil with him. Because of their long relationship, Soulblighter would have particular reason to ressurect Shiver but none of the others.
