I dunno. Maybe it's the TFL comic calling them "ignorant" for serving a force that wants to pretty much destroy the world? Or the fact that they've decided to be racial enemies with the only culture in Myth that possesses explosives and firearms? Or the "Limbs, Heads" picture with the Ghôl poking a Wight to see what happens? Of the fact that they're named things like "Smasher"?
I grant you, they are one of the smartest Dark races. But that's because their competition are mostly dead. Yeah, you can outwit a Thrall, Smasher! Big ups!
Seriously, it seems less that Ghôls *can't* think than that they just don't bother most of the time. They're reckless and savage...cunning sometimes, sure, but they just don't think big or long-term.
