And, of course, it's always possible that the journal writer is just a generic background personage. The only reason he exists is to provide Bungie with an interesting and plausible method of providing background info, extra plotline, and, of course, briefing you before you play a mission. Therefore, Bungie didn't really need a specific type of unit to play the role of the Journal Writer. You also have to keep in mind that this is a strategy genre game, and in the actual world of Myth the kinds of destinctions between units that is necessary in a strategy game would not be present in a real-world environment. The warriors would not be so totally different from the Bowmen (Myth II) in the minds of those people who lived at the time. They were all just lumped together as soldiers so long as they weren't in a battle situation, because it would only be in battle that they would really need to address the units by their separate functions.
Anyway, that's my thought.
