Asylum Night: Oct. 23, 1999
Official Report

Summary of Events: We talked about names and races for the first 20-30 minutes. We then proceded to play Bre'Unor attack. The first time, we lost horribly. The second, we lost not so horribly. After lenghy explanation of the differences between left and right, as well as East and West by Ares, we played "Shiver" (again). After surviving obstacle after obstacle with heroic bravery, Ares and several other players started killing eachother. At this point Milk Man got annoyed and killed everyone with a triple fireball. And BIG SURPRISE we actually WON! WOO!

What we found out:

Sir Balin: Arthurian Legends: stuck the dolorous stroke. i have no idea what that is, except that Ares says it is somehow related to the destruction of the godhead.

Sir Phelot: Arturian Legends: Sir Phelot tricked Lancelot into removing his armor in order to get to a damsel (Lancelots Wife), in the end Lancelot killed Sir Phelot with his lance.

Damas: Biblical: A disciple of Paul who abandoned him for worly things.
Arthurain Legends: Damas was the most traitorous knight that ever lived. His brother, Sir Outzlake was as loved as he was hated. Damas would trap knights through sorcery and agreed to release them if one of them would battle, and slay his brother, however none had the heart to battle Sir Outzlake. When Damas captured Arthur, Arthur agreed to battle Sir Outzlake for the sake of all the other knights. Arthur's evil stepsister, Morgan le Fay, gave Escalibur to Outzlake and gave Arthur a crappy sword. Arthur and Outzlake fought for a while but (quotation from Ares) "eventualy teamed up and kicked Damas's ass". Damas was exiled however, not killed.

Balor: Celtic Mythology: Balor was the king of the fir'bolg (according to Forrest they are Giants and/or the original inhabitants of Ireland) and the Celtic god of death.

Clovis: French History: The REAL Clovis became king of the Franks in AD 481. Fifteen years later, Clovis became the first Germanic (he was Frankish) ruler to accept Catholicism. Clovis's military victories and his religious conversion gave his throne stability. The monarchy he founded began declining a century later because of the Frankish practice of dividing lands amoung heirs, who later became rivals and fought for lands. By AD 700, political power had completely passed from kings to government officials called "mayors of the palace"

Alric (also spelled Alaric): European History: When in AD 408 Stilicho (prominent general, responsible for keeping barbarians out of Italy) was murdered by the emperor, who distrusted his ambition, the Italian core of the Empire, for which so much had been sacrificed was immediatly forfeit. Once Stilicho was dead, Alaric King of the Visigoths, travelled thousands of miles to present his demands at the gates of Rome and, though at first he was conciliatory, the refusal of Western autorities (safe within the impregnable capital of Ravenna) to meet his claims led a to storming of the city in AD 410. Although the sack was mild and almost respectful, the prestige of the Roman world began to fall with the ancient center of its greatness defeated.

The similarity to Alric in Myth is astounding, they both led thier armies hundreds of miles (Alric led his amries all the way from N.E. Greece to Rome) and defeated a seemingly undefeatable foe by striking at the capital city of the empire.

Ravana: The Ramayana (Hindu Epic): Ravana is a prominant Deamon King (Giant King according to some versions) who also controlls Rakshasa, myrkridia like creatures (ugly, flesheating, slightly larger than a man, semi-inteligent). Ravana kidnaps the wife of the great warrior/prince Rama. With the help of his brother (Lakshmana) Sugriva, the monkey king, and prominant mokey warriors (Nala, nila, Tara, and Hanuman, the Son of the Wind) he manages to save his wife and slay Ravana.

Myrmidons: The warriors of achilles, aslo called Ant Men because of the mythical origin of the people of his Isle (they were created from ants).

Fir'Bolg: Mythical beings from Celtic Mythology. According to Forrest they are Giants and/or the original inhabitants of Ireland.
