The Cloudspine

In Soulblighter during the level The Forge while SB is trying to shatter the Cloudpine Soulblighter says "I have killed the whole world" Why would shatterin g the cludspine kill the world? Why would it even be so bad, it would finalyly allow open passages from the east to west year-round. I can see how everyone in the vicinity of Tharsis would die, but the whole world? I dunno.
