Sea travel

While travelling on a ship doesnt come up much except Landing at White falls and the like It makes me think. As far as we know there are one possibly two continents. There are sea ports along the western side from humans. However if anyone ever looks at the size of alric's ship its obviosly not ment for port to port travel becuase of its size. This makes me believe that there must be some islands of sorts or proves another continent. This leads me to believe that sea travel is important the myth universe or Tain (As Nick said). By important I mean more then just port city to port city trade. If im correct I dont think anyone else has ships to use (Except the Dwarven balloons :). What could they be useing with these large ships?
