Sentience

Anyone else find the amount of sentient (and amazing lack of non sentient ones, I mean all they give us are pigs squirrels birds chickens spiders deer and flys, not much)races in Myth astounding? Not counting the extinct Oghres and Calliaech and the various magic races like the undead and Mahir we have the Humans, Fir'Bolg, Bre'Unor, Trow, Dwarves, Ghols, Mauls, and maybe even the Myrkridia after all they were smart enough to make themselves a standard but possible not sentient. Heck, you could even throw in the Skrael if you felt like it. And those are just the ones we know of for sure. Obviously the development of this many races is evolutionarily impossible especially when they all share 1 continent. I think maybe each race was a creation of a certain god, each vying for supremacy in some weird game of theirs. Or perhaps so many races were put in to keep the all powerful Trow in check (I believe there's something about this in Antero's i'd have to check) Perhaps humans were put into the mix as the axact opposite of the Trow, quick to do everything, completely irrational. But then the gods realized they'd made a mistake with humanity, they were too powerful as peices in their game, so they added the element of the leveller in to keep the race meant to keep the Trow in check in check just as in our own game where we play god (of course im referring to Myth) the immense firepower of the dwarves is handicapped by short range and low health and the far shooting archers are kept in check by their near inability to engage in melee. In fact its like that in most games, so why shouldn't it be so with this game of gods? Maybe this theory even had a basis in fact? In Norse Myth the gods, the Aesir played out the lives of men on a chessboard with golden peices. I think the Olympians did something similar. After all isn't the whole world of Myth Wyrd's dream? and maybe Wyrd's dream is just another name for him and the other gods little game.
