I agree as well. Though it seems that many dont pay attention to the single player game, I feel that this one of Myth and Myth II's most prominent feature.
In Myth 1, I was moved by the light's desperate plight against soulblighter, the desperate assaults and hasty retreats, entire empires falling as your determined leagion bravely makes it's way to the heart of the darkness.
In Myth II, I was impressed by the grandeur of the battles, the desperate arms race between evil and good, the intricate plots that Soulblighter and Alric create to destroy eachother truly impressed me.
