Connacht vs Balor

Was Balor more powerful in combat terms than Connacht? Connacht was undoubtedly a legend among the flock of humanity (you'd need to be to take on the Myrkridia with the scattered remnants of humanity then), but Balor's powers seem more than human. Does the Leveller empower him as well as influence his mind? Is it the suit of armour he wears, possibly the one Alric spoke of in the desert? Or was Connacht simply much more powerful than I'm giving him credit for?
