What we NEED to do . .
When I first heard of MS stealing bungie I took it rather badly, as I think we all did. I then went to all the pro-bungie sites I could find, reading the responses in the forums and checking their news sections.
I know people are pissed with Frigidman for closing the Mill, but I can understand how he feels; here is a guy who has invested a GREAT DEAL of time and money into the Myth community. As you can read at the Mill he's spent 20k on computer equipment and put a lot of time into it. He's even JUST run a compedition in which he payed for all the prizes himself, only to have the Bungie sell out to MS, only to have the wholesome fun that is playing Myth and other Bungie products cheapened.
bungie.org itself came very close to being shutdown too. The Myth (& Bungie community) as a whole is in great risk, now with Take 2 in charge and very likely to release some more Myth titles (why else would they buy the rights?) we must weep, for the original minds will not be behind it. So, we shall most likely have to ignore these titles lest they ruin Myth for us. I mean it is hard to now enjoy a bit of Myth or Marathon without thinking of those Microsoft SCUM. So given the great risk the Myth community is in I shall put forward this analogy:
In a military situation when a commander becomes SOO warped and takes stupid risks, they are no longer being sane or in control. . . . then a officer lower down decides that they must simply step in for the good of everyone in the situation. . . .
THIS is what we must do, Bungie has gone out of control, my guess is that the Myth community does not NEED another Myth title (though Take 2 will release them) and so now we must take control. And we have the tools to do it; thank god Bungie released Fear & Loathing, now we can take Myth beyond, further without the help of Bungie. We don't have the source like we do with Marathon, but we do have some tools. So we need to get to work, start a website which is pure CORE ORIGINAL BUNGIE. They may not be there, but we will and we (true fans) can maintain it.
It will not be like the good'ol'days, but it will be something. And may hopefully hold the Myth community together.
After all, even in b.net goes down (please may that never happen, or MS corrupt it) then we can hold Asylum Night on TCP/IP :)
