Rest in comfort my friends and I will spin you a tale. Heed my words, for in this time of great danger the past must be guarded from those who would exploit its power.
After destruction of all competing OS firms, and the subjugation of Apple; little stood between the seemingly indestructible hordes known as Microsoft and complete dominion of the land of silicon. Soon, the last defenders were absorbed or slyn, and Gates the leader of the horde, turned his eyes upon the Virtual Realms to the south. His first bold advances where stifled by the valiant knights of Netscape. But even their courage could not hold off the might of Gates forever and they were slowly strangled to death, their cites destroyed, the survivors scattered.
Gates moved quickly to consolidate his vast new empire. No one, not even the gods of justice and right (the U.S Supreme Court and the U.S Constitution) were willing to risk his wrath.
Seeing that even the gods were at his mercy the Dark One launched a campaign to subjugate the green, happy lands of creativity and freedom, commonly known as the "Gaming Community". The god of unbased accusation and judgment (The feeding frenzy of press and public opinion on games after the Littleton Colorado Massacre) chose this moment to distract the normally united, if competitive kingdoms of the realm. So great was the unrest, that no one noted the conquests of Gates and his army.
After establishing a toe hold in the realm, Gates suddenly found himself under attack by the gods. Who feared he might devour them if allowed to grow more powerful. He allowed them a token victory. His empire was officially split in to two realms, but he retained ultimate control. Soon he began his most un-holy and wicked atrocity yet. He seduced the young, newly powerful Nation of Bungie into his fold. Everyone through out the realm, rich and poor, great and small were shocked. Their faith in creativity and free competition was shaken to its vary foundations, for Bungie had long been a great defender of those priceless qualities...
Now to the present my friends...my comrades. Some of you I have known for many moons; some I have yet to stand beside in battle. Which ever you may be I PRAY YOU LISSEN TO THE WORDS I SPEEK! We are all brothers of The Asylum! A most valued and sacred order. We are the seekers of truth and protectors of the past! We are charged with a most sacred mission…WE MUST SHOW BUNGIE THE ERROR OF THEIR WAY! But only through leadership and unity can we begin our task. I beseech our beloved leader, Forrest, to pick up the mantel he has only just put aside; and lead us into battle once more!
All of you know that we inhabit a region long protected by Bungie. Some of you may fear that we too will soon fall to the might of Gates and his legions. Some of you may ask, "how are we to fight such a monster"? My brothers, I have no way to quite your fears or to answer your questions save remind you that we are not alone. Others inhabit this region with us. With our combined voice and power WE WILL BE HEARD!
So done your armor and prepare your weapons, for we have a long dark road ahead of us. We will fight an enemy who's power dwarfs ours by an order of magnitude. But we must fight, we must because we can no longer afford not to. We can not allow ourselves to fall as the others did. We must hold the line here, for we have already lost too much. The last battle is a hand, and its outcome is uncerten. So I say again to you dear brothers…
TO YOUR MOUNTS! SPREED THE WORD! THE TIME FOR BATTLE IS HERE, NOW!
