State of the Asylum Address

Well, I've been noticing a disturbing trend in the past few weeks, and I'm saddened by it. Before I start this little speech, I must say that this is in no way supposed to offend anyone or anything (especially the asylum itself). This is merely something I see and wish to bring to everyone's attention along with a few hopeful cures.

In the past few weeks, hell it might have even been months, I've noticed that fewer and fewer discussions actually take place, and those that do are usually restating old facts that we've already gone over. It's a sad state of affairs, but it leads me to believe one thing:

The story of Myth has been discussed in almost as much detail as we can possibly do. There is almost nothing left for us to ponder. (and with these two sentences I just shot myself in the foot)

I've talked about it with two other members of the Asylum (at least), and they agree that the Asylum has accomplished its goal, which means bad things. Fortunately, we've come up with some solutions and the causes of some of the problems.

First, I'll talk about the causes.

The first is that everyone has lost some of their interest in the Asylum, and has gone off to do other, more exciting things. Among the exciting alternatives are lighting fires, making maps, and trying to get guest accounts at C2HL. Whatever.

The second is that people have real lives. It's an unfortunate fact of life, but it's just got to happen. I know this, and have had to make the difficult decisions between Asylum Night and other activities many many times, and the other activities have prevailed many times.

These problems are all compounded by the fact that not many people are posting anymore (because of the first two reasons), and the problems are building and building. Not to mention the lack of ideas that everyone has.

So now we go on to what we should do. Since there is little in the way of discussion now, and will probably not be too much substantial or new discussions soon, we need to start getting together to keep the Asylum together.

First thing that needs to happen is we need to make it to Asylum Night and have fun together more. Without the happy bonding experience of the Asylum Night, we are all growing apart from each other. In times when not much happens, the AN is all that keeps us together as a community, and we really need to keep that up. People have been showing up to AN's less and less frequently in the past weeks (for good reasons, I know), but we really need to stay together. Whenever you can, you must make it to AN.

The next thing that needs to happen is we all need to hang around at the ANHL. Now that it's up, we can stay together as a community just like at the AN itself, but on our own times, so we can meet as a community at any time. The ANHL is exactly what this community needs, and we should use it to it's best effect.

Another thing that has been discussed (willy, help me out here!) is that we need to start discussing things on the AN about other things. The eRPG, various plugins (creation needs to help me with this one!), and possible futures or possibilities for Myth.

I'll have to cut this short, but the last thing I need to say is this:

GIVE ME YOUR THOUGHTS ON THIS MATTER! Add your editorials to mine. We cannot fix the problem without communicating, so get to it!

Ducky
