The WW report!

Since I have been strangely absent from here for quite a while, I deem it time to bring to you, from the deepest dankest dungeons of Scotland, the WW report!

Internet costs. They really piss me off. Americans get unmetered time, but we still have to pay the darn phone bill. Well, for those who don't know, the time has come for change! Europe is undergoing an e-commerce revolution. This only really effects me in that as of June the 1st, I will be able to access the internet completely free for an unlimited amount of time.
Now you'd think until then that I could take the costs, and normally I could. But unfortunately I have other committments aside from Myth. OMG, they all say, WW has a life!. Nope, I'm afraid I still cannot contemplate one of those. I am the honourable leader of an order of Jedi that play the game Jedi Knight (which I think is available for the Mac. Get it and join me!)! We've just started something huge and I am forced to spend much of my time either on the order's message board, or talking/playing/training with other members.

Anyway, until June I will probably not be able to attend any Asylum Nights, or post much on this board, which is irritating.
The main way this affects you is the eRPG (which Forrest mentioned below). Technically I don't need to be online much at all, but there is one other thing that is preventing me from carrying on with it. As you know, there are many faults in the rules. This is expected really, it's only the first version. I mean, just because you've got two broadswords in a backpack, does that make them any less heavy?? I need to do things to sort out problems like this (in this case I can just say the backpack can let you hold more. Not everyone has 5 hands!). There are also other unrealistic things, such as the height restrictions etc. for the different races. In the updated version, there will be no height/age restrictions, only guides as to what sort of height/age etc. the race normally is.
There are other ways in which the rules could be made better, for example you know you gain bonuses to skills from your attributes? At the moment it is static, +10 if you have 21-40, +20 if you have 41-60 etc. Sili advised that I make it so that you half your attribute to find the bonus to skill, as long as you have at least 21.

I was thinking about the system, and I was wondering about the skills vs attributes. In Asheron's Call (massively-multiplayer online RPG), each player chooses how many point they have on atttributes. Each skill number is calculated by a formula based on its related attributes, for example Sword Skill is coordination attribute + strength attribute / 3. Also, each skill can be at one of four levels: unusuable, untrained, trained, and specialized. It costs points for each of these (negative for unusable). Although trained and specialized get a bonus of +5 and +10 (respectively) to that skill, the main advantage comes when advancing your character. It is less costly in experience points to advance a specialized skill as opposed to an untrained one.

What do you think about this system? It would be very difficult to work out suitable formulae for each of the many skills, but its no impossible.

Anyway, I will try and get some of this new stuff down as soon as possible and then carry on with the eRPG.

P.S To ducky: you're right, it was fireballs for eyes and lightning from arse, but we didn't forget. I wanted to have that, but someone said it would be difficult, and suggested fire from arse instead!
