About The Leveler (really long)

The Leveler, as we all know, is a transient divinity. Basically that means hes a sorta immortal entity, who takes over people's bodies. However, if you're a divinity? Why do you bother taking over people's bodies? Also, why the hell do you restrict it to the patterns of some comet? That's just plain ridiculous. Unless, of course, you're trapped on it. I think the leveler was some divine being, who was cast out of the divine being place for being twisted and evil (like Satan). They then imprisoned him in that comet, hoping he wouldn't do anything. They of course were wrong, and didn't really care. I guess they figured without this guy there would be no evil in the world, and without some check on population (however horrible it may be) the world begins to decline, unstoppable by humane means. So, they figure, this comet passes by, and the leveler steals someone's body and causes mayhem and such, until eventually being stopped. But then one asks, why do this? Even evil has something behind it. Well, Soulblighter didn't, but as mentioned before, the leveler never torched every single city. Perhaps, he posessed heroes no for an ironic genocide of the human race, but for eventually finding someone strong enough to break the comet to pieces, and free the divine being. Here's how it happens. After one leveler wreaks havoc, a hero comes to save the day from the wicked things and then theres the yay go (insert hero here) and the statue building and all that. However, the comet comes along when the hero does. In there is the leveler, apparently disappointed with the body he's taken (because its not strong enough to bust him out). So, he inspires the most powerful good being on earth, with a slight possessive persuasion, to kill the leveler's current host. Then, the leveler can take some of his consciousness and deposit it in the hero before the comet heads off. As the comet goes through its path, the leveler's control of the hero gets less and less powerful, as it distances itself from the myth planet. Of course, he doesn't really do anything at this time but haunt the hero of what has happened and the price that was paid to kill the monster that had ravaged his brethren (for example, Alric's dream in the myth 2 intro). However, the leveler had really been pulling strings since day one. He tells the hero where to get what he needs (an eblis stone? i mean cmon! Alric didn't just pull the location of something Connacht couldn't find outta his hat, someone with lotsa knowledge told him where it was, and that someone was the leveler, slowly pulling more and more strings in the back of alric's mind). He also has the hero do unorthodox things to the evils he fights (for example...Connacht imprisoned the myrkridia and the Watcher, rather than kill them. If Connacht was able to kill a leveler, he definitely could have taken some guy with goat horns on his helmet). Even though the Trow were wise, they were also very grateful that Connacht did not kill them, and imprisoned them beneath their melted cities. Balor came back, and he freed the Trow, and they were so happy to be free, that they served Balor, even though they knew he was the leveler. The Watcher also served Balor, even though he knew he was Connacht. As for the myrkridia, well, the small piece of Connacht left in Balor wouldn't let that happen. Every leveler has a weakness, and it is brought on by the piece of hero left in them. The Leveler can never take total control, or his own posession will backfire on him. Also, it is not in the nature of things. The devil is often expressed not as being flat out "I'll destroy you and everything you love!" He seems more to appeal to people with thoughts in the backs of their minds disguised as being good, every time pushing the victim's mind further and further above its threshold for evil. However, if the leveler were to simply transfer too much of his power and consciousness into the body, not only would it backfire on him, but the gods of the myth world would probably intervene and decide that he was goin too far. Also, he has to keep his massing of power a secret, so he cant have them stick their noses into the matter. Between becoming the leveler and killing the previous one, the hero seems to have a bizzarre craving to find all the powerful artifacts of the world. In fact, during all stages of the posession this seems to be a goal. However, it's during peacetime when it really seems to show. Probably as the comet is headed back toward earth, and the leveler increases his hold some more. Then, the hero finally disappears looking for one of those artifacts, and never returns. Until a very long time later. Perhaps the hero lies, and decides to go off alone to fight the evil inside him. Maybe he's looking for stuff that would help him out as the leveler (that armor Connacht had didn't just come outta nowhere...it may have been the armor mentioned by the head in TFL, but thats controversial, and i won't go into it, it'll be hard enough to reply to this super long message). Overall, unless someone catches onto this, the leveler will eventually free himself, and with the help of resources he has had heroes attain for him over the past (I think the leveler thought the myrkridia to be something more useful than the trow or watcher, so he had them imprisoned long term, not foreseeing crazy ol' summoner coming and ressurecting them all). Also, suppose that armor really was dug up? Maybe the leveler just wanted to find it so he could use it later. Also, why didn't Balor just kill Alric? It was ridiculous to interrogate the man. He would have found the armies eventually, and since he was pretty much immortal, along with all of his minions, he really didnt have to be quick. So, Balor was also obviously pressed for time, and rather reluctant to kill Alric. It's almost as if he wanted them to come rescue him. He didnt have anything powerful guarding him. Just some thralls and soulless. What kind of idiot guards something he wants to keep imprisoned and killed later with slow moving zombies with armor on and half skeletons that float and throw javelins. I'll tell you...a guy who wants the imprisoned guy rescued, but doesnt want to hint at it. The naive legion just figures its a lucky break, and dont even know that if balor were actually THERE the five champions would have soon become the five ash piles. Also, how did Alric know about the world not in Rhi'Anon? This all just supports my theory more. However, I'd really like to see what everyone else thinks of it, and also I'd like to see where the disclaimers to this theory are, and if maybe i can see if i can weed them out of it, and produce a universally accepted "Derek's Leveler Theorem". Thats why i posted it here. This oughta be a juicy one to ingest for all the story big shots.
