I've been away from the Myth scene for awhile., particularly because Myth 2 was not what I expected or wanted. Not in the game department, it was a good game, but the story and mystery the original had is nowhere present in Myth 2. It seems they went all out to create a very good story in the first one, and many people (to this day) are still trying to decipher the story. When I heard they were making a sequel, I got really excited because I thought they were going to answer some questions and delve deeper into the characters and their history.
Myth 1 had so many characters, a Head that tricked everyone and a story that you kept you guessing who everyone really was and what their motives were. Myth 2 provided no extension of this. There was Alric and Soulblighter and the ressurection of the Myrkridia which was not as compelling as it should have been. Back when everyone was complaining about all the bugs and over0sights bungie had I was wondering why they released a sequel that seemingly had no story that we can disect for another two years. It's interesting that this forum still discusses the original story instead of Myth 2's story, and I can see why. There is no story.
And since is has been a recent topic, I feel when the Great Devoid exploded there was a shidt in that world's balance and Soublighter took advantage of it. Every 1000 years there is a Leveler and a Hero, perhaps Soulblighter planned Balor's death with the Head (as mentioned in the story section) and the Leveler died prematurely and someone had to continue the reign until the the time when Balor was supposed to die, so Soulblighter took control for 60 years, his time was up and he died as every other Leveler has done before him.
