Not to interfere in what will probably turn out to be the most epic (and definitely the longest) debate in the history of the Asylum, but I was wondering why either of you would be dissatisfied with the story's explanation of Balor's poor generalship, namely the turning of the cycle. It's the end of the Light Age--the Leveller is *supposed* to appear and get killed. If the forces of fate accomplish this by making him a terrible strategist, why is that so surprising? The only unexpected (and cycle-breaking) thing is that the Dark armies fell with him, possibly because he *did* bind them (at least the mindless ones) to him.
And now, back to your regularly scheduled total war. :)
