Interrogation Theory

Now, Balor interrogated Alric during his captivity out in the Barrier, correct? I'm wondering, how plausible is it that someone else was impersonating Balor and fed Alric false information like this :

"Alric was interrogated by Balor during his captivity, and he learned by chance that Balor had bound each of The Fallen to himself, to ensure their obedience to his will. The Fallen draw their power through these links, and were Balor to be killed they would all be powerless. The armies of the Dark would collapse."

This is obviously incorrect.

Where is Soulblighter during the battles around the Cloudspine?

Perhaps the Head sent Alric out there, knowing it was a trap but had no intentions of Alric being killed. The Head had something larger in mind. Here's what I think.

Someone posed as Balor out in the desert and awaited the arrival of Alric. This person was working with the Head. The Head sends Alric out there to search for a suit of armor but alas he is captured by "Balor". Somebody wears similar armor as Balor's or even twists Alric's mind (The Deceiver, but how plausible is that considering the Deceiver was supposed to be in Silver Mines...but he could have left for a brief period of time) and feeds him this false information in order to ensure the defeat of Balor. It's like telling someone the only way to defeat the snake is by cutting it's head off, attacking the body will hardly damage him. Of course anybody would go for the head, correct? By telling Alric that if the Legion kills Balor the rest of the Fallen Lords will become powerless and in turn the armies of the Dark will crumble, don't you think he'll make a decent attempt at going straight for the Leveller and leaving other potential evils behind because in the end, they'll fall to once Balor is eliminated.

Perhaps it was Soulblighter, who wanted to rule this land and figured that if Alric sent his army towards Balor with everything they've got, Balor will die and Soulbligher will live on, and Alric is none the wiser...until he rises up many years from then with a new army.
