During my glorious break, I was able to read through two Black Company novels by Glen Cook, the first one in the series, and a more recent one, "Bleak Seasons", and I noticed the striking similarities to myth many have spoken of.
For instance, look at the names of the Circle of Eighteen and of the Ten Who Were Taken-Soulcatcher, Shapeshifter, Whisper, The Limper, The Hanged Man, Bonegnasher (also called Bonecrusher), The Nameless Man (also called the Faceless Man...hmmm...), Nightcrawler, Stormbringer, Moonbiter, The Howler. From Bleak Seasons, the names of some of the Shadowmasters-Shadowspinner, Longshadow.
In "The Black Company", the first novel, many of the Taken seem to fight among themselves. During the first few chapters, Soullcatcher and The Limper behave almost like the Deciever and the Watcher did, fighting violently between themselves.
Also, one of the cities in the books is called Juniper. Hmm, does anyone know of the tie-in with Myth there? :)
