A Fragile Alliance (Final Version; Please Respond)

DISCLAIMER: Now i am sure i have missed a million things and these theories probably seem ludacris so please bear with me and thank you for reading...

Much like Glen Cook's first Black Company book it seems nearly everyone in the Myth universe, primarily Myth 1 because it has such an open end storyline, is trying to play everyone off one another. Now I think the root of the problem (why we cant seem to answer many things related to the head) is we dont have enough information on our decapatated friend. Specifically, how much magical power he has or how many people he has working under him in secret.

I have always believed that Soublighter (because he had more free will then the other fallen lords due to becoming immortal by his own devices) and The Head were in league. Soulblighter has always been powerhungry and resourceful making him a perfect parnter with The Head (who hated Balor most likely for taking his head off) I will speak more of this in a minute.

Now I have a question...do we have information that would back up wether or not The Head became a head after or before Connacht became Balor? Now I remeber reading something from Myth:TFL (mission 4 i think) about the Head knowing Shiver. This proves that either the Head and Shiver were around together and COULD have been around in Connacht's time or after. Remeber: The Head had an "old" score to settle with Balor.

It is plausable that The Head (in his regular body form) was a friend of Connacht and Damas. Perhaps The Head was a Lieutenant of Connacht as Damas was. Once the Leveler comes in and Balor is born, the Head and Damas most likely tried to destroy Balor or turn him back to the side of the light. In doing this The Head became the The Head at the hand of Balor, thus the head hates Balor for killing his friend/master Connacht and decapatating him. Damas escapes Balor's wrath and goes off to make himself the immortal Soublighter in an attempt to stop Balor.

Soublighter, being resourceful as i previously mentioned, discovers that his ole buddy who is now a talking head, is still alive and kicking, well not kicking persay. The Head arranges to be picked up by the Legion and begins getting orders/suggestions from Soulblighter. This makes the most sense due to the events that occur by the head's doing. But with any theory there are inconsitencies. Things dont make sense. Allow me to point them out for you and try my best to make them work.

If the head and Soublighter are working together...why do other Fallen Lords show up when the Legion is sent after "stuff" well the Head/Soublighter are hoping the Fallen Lord, whoever is sent after the Legion, can retrieve the artifact, making it accessible to Soulblighter. It would be much easier to get something once in the hands of the dark then the hands of the Legion, let alone Alric.

The biggest problem i see in this theory is the fact that the Head starts the civil war AND THEN disappears. Why basically give your presence away to the enemy? Well i think the Head forsaw a much bloodier and drawn out conflict. Now he is in a bit of hotwater with the Legion and calmly disappears. Most of it fits in my opinion and it works out well for the bad guys in question. Now i am sure i have forgot a million things so now please bash this theory for "What does not destroy me makes me stronger." -Nietzche

For my feelings on Forrest's anti-leveler mumbo jumbo see the text below =)

I dont think the Head is the anti-leveler. Why? because it just isnt good enough? Much of the decisions by the bad guys and good guys are very tactical minded. Alric made the decision to take a stab at Balor himself not because it was the "heroic and right and game ending thing to do," but because the West was already lost and if your lawn is crapped on you might as well go after the dog then clean it up and wait for him to crap on it again. Smart of Alric to do as well. There is no strategic value in sending in troops to retrieve something when they are walking into a trap, or walking into a situation where enemy troops will assurdedly be present. EVERY single time the Legion was sent off to go get something at the behest of the Head the enemy shows up. Coincidence, i think not.

The civil war. What was the point of that? The only reason i can think of the Head insitigating the civil war if it is the anti-leveler is so make its escape and continue to be the anti-leveler. But that still doesnt fit, the Civil War took its tole on the West at a critical moment. The civil war speed up the destruction of the West at the hands of the Fallen Lords basically by months.

What the Head does just doesnt fit to be a technical "good" guy. And the opposite of evil is good, and anti means opposite so by basic english translations he has to be "good" so he cant be acting under his own devices. The storyline behind myth is very much based on balance. There is no in between or "third party" per say. Its kind of a " are you good or evil" type scenario. You cant really be on your own. Soulblighter had his own intentions BUT STILL served Balor completely.

Now these are just my suspicions and i am sure they are all full of holes and make no sense. But like i said, things just dont fit with the anti-leveler.

Thanks for reading.

ps. Stay tuned for my next article "A Mythical Soap Opera" about the love triangle between Connarcht, Damas, and none other than Ravanna. =)
