I got all of this out of GURPS:Myth, the section about the Ages. Apparantly a dark age is supposed to last for 1000 years, and an age of Light is supposed to last 1000 years. Please feel free to correct me if you feel anything is wrong or misplaced here (and i'm sure you would anyways..)
569 H.C. Tirces defeats first leveler, Age of Reason begins (light)
431 A.E. Comet appears, Moagim arises, Wind Age begins (dark)
A great hero appears and has Moagim drawn and quartered.
1431 A.E. Comet appears, Connacht arises, Age of Light/Wolf Age begins (light)
Connacht kills Myrkridia and easily defeats Leveler
1433-1462 A.E. Connacht begins to disrupt cycle
2431 A.E. Balor heads west with his army, Sword Age begins.
July, 2481 A.E. Comet appears and Balor killed.
Now i'm not sure, but it appears that from 2431 to 3431 should have been a Dark Age, ruled by Balor. However, the comet seems to herald the coming of Alric, the champion. Or perhaps the cycle was broken the instant that Alric wielded the Eblis stone to destroy Balor, apprantly once and for all. To reinforce this point, check out page 7 of GURPS:Myth, it states:

The Light has prevailed in both wars, though it has been a near thing in each case. The origional Dark lord - Balor the Leveler - is destroyed and his lieutenant - the bloodcurdling Soulblighter - has shared his fate. A hard-earned peace and prosperity seem the immediate outlook, if one can overlook one simple detail.
