: Heyyyy, happy to see an old face poking around again!
: Man, has it been 12 years since 2008 already?
: In random news, I've been musing on how cool it would
: have been to have made campaigns, or at least written
: fan-fics, about the earliest eras of the cycle, called
: "Legends of the [nth] Era". I've been
: particularly taken with the idea of a "Legends of
: the First Era", in which the Leveller attacks the
: younger races for the first time, in the Axe Age
: (having previously focused on attacking the Trow,
: before giving up a thousand years ago). The primary
: Dark race would be the "orcs" (as they are
: called in the TFL tags), who we know by the time of
: TFL as the fir'Bolg, and their cousins the bre'Unor,
: which it would turn out (in Legends of the Second Era,
: set during the Sword Age, when Caliban and ou'Kahn
: negotiate a truce to bring some "orcs" over
: to the light) are the names of tribes or factions of
: "orcs". In the Orcish language, their
: Leveller would be called... b'Y'laggo.
: I'm thinking perhaps primitive Dwarves lead by ancient
: Spider-Cultists would be another Dark faction, and
: animosity between them and the Ghols (also Dark) could
: be a plot point, maybe leading to the overthrow of the
: Spider-Cultist government and the turning of the rest
: of the Dwarves to the Light; or at least, against
: the Dark. Perhaps the greatest Human kingdom of the
: time could have been Yer'Ks, and its Drowning the
: First Era equivalent of the sack of the Cath Bruig
: empire, the beginning of the (almost-)end for the
: Light; the scattered tribes of the north (Berserks and
: Myrmidons and the like) could be refugees from Yer'Ks.
: I'm not sure whose side Skrael would have been on at
: that time; perhaps long enemies of Yer'Ks, they
: nevertheless side with the light against the Orcish
: army after Yer'Ks is Drowned, in an uneasy alliance
: akin to the Ghols and Dwarves on the Dark side.
: I have nowhere anywhere near time to even write a story
: like this, much less make a campaign, but if anyone
: else wants to run with it I'd be happy to collaborate.
I like all of this, for sure. I've been eyeballing a campaign built around artifact retrieval and puzzles to solve offline. I came back here looking at the combo of the tain, deceiver's arm/wand, Balor's head, energon cubes, freeing Alric, etc. There's some great quest structure in myth that made the levels seem endlessly replayable.
I threw the myth soundtrack into the background of Roll20 the other day and all my non-myth friends wanted to know what it was...except for the one who said, "hey, wasn't that in Halo?"
What was your favorite Myth quest?
