: Did it ever occur to anyone that they based Myth 1/2 on
: WW1/WW2?
: This isn't the greatest theory, but think of it this way.
: The Great War in TFL (is the name a coincidence?) is a
: long, drawn out conflict with a whole slew of
: villains. It has the desperate, futile feel of WW1,
: where you simply couldn't gain ground because the
: machine gun made infantry advances impossible and
: tanks hadn't been invented yet. So, an ugly, muddy
: stalemate which is slowly lost or won, and nothing
: sudden or dramatic happens.
The entire time you are playing TFL is a big dramatic event as the lightning burst that is your legion and Alric strike to the heart of the evil empire. Also the baddies in TFL pretty much took out Muirthemne pretty fast. To me the 20 years isnt as much of a 'we're holding them off' as it was 'we're the dark, we just killed the biggest nation in the entire world, give us a few years to recuperate and we'll get to you when we want to. Until then have fun skirmishing and fleeing in terror.
They didnt really start pouring into the West until the game began.
