The Wound which Festers

I was rereading the story just now, and I ran into this.
"...The Heron Guard had never relied upon archers or explosives to fend off invasions, it had all been done with a pair of swords in the hands of skilled heroes." If I remember the flavor text for the Bowman Ghosts correctly, the Imperial Bowmen are said to be second only to the Heron Guard.

Apparently, Thirteen Skull Bloody Tree forgot that, or more likely, ignored it. He does not seem to be a particularly good example of a Heron Guard even before the TFL era events, and him refusing to consider the archers true soldiers, instead of merely "useless cowards" would probably fit well. Its not really a vital point, but not every discussion in the Asylum seeks to find the Ultimate Truth, to name all the Emperors of the Cath Bruig from Clovis to Alric, or other epic, meaningful, things.

Anyone else have observations, comments, questions worth looking over, regarding the Heron Guards in fan fiction and other Myth user creations? Might make for some interesting conclusions, if we haven't discussed them to death.

"...not even the oldest veterans were able to speak for a long time, as grief and guilt ravaged them to a man, each believing that if they had been here, none of this could have happened. That through their weakness, the Emperor lay dead amongst the ruin that was once the city of Muirthemne...less than a shadow of its former glory."

P.S. Should I do something with this? A story, perhaps?
