Rabican's demise?

So, I don't know if this has been discussed or not, but, What the hell ever happened to Rabican? I mean, we all know he defeated shiver, and we all know that his army is laid to waste, but did he die at that point? The narrator makes reference to the nine being " more like the three" after the tain level, but I don't recall if Rabican is defeated before that or not.
Any body have an idea?
