introduction and The Head

Hi to everybody, my name's Enrico and I'm from Italy.
I'm a relatively new myth fan, having played all the 3 games (apart from Chimaera).
I played M3 only recently (I found it as a bonus CD from an Italian games magazine).. and instantly tought it was great.
In fact I loved the chance to see with my own very eyes the past of Myth and to know every motives behind M1 and M2 events.
I want to clarify that i'm writing this whitout having read a single asylum message, but mostly in response to what is written in the section "Delusions : The Head".. maybe it's just my english that sucks but i seemed to grasp a somewhat discontent with the realization or just the "ideas" behind Myth3. I do not wish to discard every single thing that was told or narrated us in M3; to say : " I do not like the twists and turns of these events.." is a little bit preposterous since there are no real motives to sustain such a stubborn stance.

I do know that these kind of things happen... just look at STar Wars........ Episode 1 is just dreadful.. giving absolutely NO insight on the "original" trilogy of films.. and did I mention that the film is horrible, even if George Lucas , the creator\director\god\andeverythingelse of the original trilogy was still behind his digital cam.
So if it can happen to Star Wars, that the prequel shakes the ground beneath fans all over the world.. it can happen with the Myth universe.. and we even have an excuse to tolerate this : Bungie out, MumboJumbo in.

My humblest opinion is that they did a really good job, and I really like when 95% of the puzzle pieces fit right into their place.

I'm not very strong at Myth history so if I'm saying something wrong, please do correct me :
1) There is this kind of Dark God, "friendly" known as THE LEVELER who now and then decides to take over the world, or at least he tries.
2) During the Wind Age, the Myrkrydia scourge rolls all over the world decimating humanity.... when the greatest hero of them all CONNACHT rises up from the mud.
3) Myth 3 spans on 16 years(more or less) in which CONNACHT and his allies complete various tasks like imprisoning the Myrkrydia in the Tain(that was constructed thanks to the knowledge infused in CONNACHT by MAZZARIN the Avatara arch-mage); the ultimate defeat of the Trow empire(and the Ogre extinction as well); we learn why 1000 years later the Trow will remain loyal to Balor\Connacht etc.
4) CONNACHT's allies are no-other than the Fallen Lords themselves, or at least two of them : Damas the SOULBLIGHTER and Myrdred THE DECEIVER.

Apart from these facts what really counts is that I do not seem to find a reasonable motive to criticize or disregard all the informations in Myth3.. I just read all the "delusions" about the head being Balor... being Moagim.. let's be clear.. thinking of this head teleporting back and forth from place to place to backstab everyone he can.. is a little bit .. how can i say.. ridicolous.

It all fits really well : Connacht beheaded Mjarin burying his head somewhere inside the city of Muirthemne(former Lancafarn). 1000 years later, Alric stumbles upon this piece of information regarding a veeeeeeeeeery long talking severed head... and what comes with age ? Knowledge. Alric and the other Eight Leaders are not in a very nice situation, it's clear that the Fallen are stronger so he's eager to accept any help he can from whoever. The Nine start talking with the head hoping to learn some info on how to beat their enemies. That's all. I think it's far more logical or fitting than any other supposition and this is a testament to MJ goos work.
When the head says that he was an old advisor of Connacht it's not true.. but not completely false either.. it's a masterpiece of intrigue ! The head was saying only half of the truth.. it is indeed an enemy of Balor.. think of it.
Balor is now evil, and his enemy should be "good" let's say so.
And the journal writer says something like that.
But the head was enemy of Balor when Balor himself was a good guy, Connacht, so the heads is evil if you read the things in this way.
The fact that the head is "at war" with everyone is simple enough: Myrdred the Deceiver didn't help a lot in the last mission in M3.. Balor\Connacht = sworn enemy! .. Damas the Soulblighter was Connacht right arm... Bahl'al The Watcher failed Mjaring in his attemp to defeat connacht.. and for what concerns the Nine.. well Mjarin is still evil in his own right, and it's pretty fitting that he's still fighting "the light".
I can concede that the Head has still incredible powers, Mjarin was the LEVELER after all ! An evil god of sorts.
We could say that in Myth1 we see the last 2 Levelers fight each other and the Light army a mere nuisance.

Ok I've written a lot for my first message, I do really hope to receive a comment so we can talk a bit about this great game and its great background.
