I was thinking about the plot problems of myth II, namingly it doesn't have the same tension of myth I and isn't as exiting, but when i thought about if the Myth II story were expanded, book, film etc. then it would have one thing up on Myth I, characters.
Redemption is a major factor in Myth II take for example:
Alric: He spent 60 years rebuilding the province, but he neglected the army and since he appears to be the last western mage, the teaching of Magic, he's been having nightmares recently (Intro Movie), he knows that Soulblighter's coming back.
So he's probably thinking "what have I done, instead of strengthening the Province I've weakened it, we aren't ready, we won't survive this" However he redeems himself, he defeats SB, refounds the Cath Bruig, which in turn brings about the redemption of the Heron Guard.
Also look at the Deciever, he too has redeemed himself (probably, but with him you never can tell.)
