I am a Tolkien fan ad when i saw that Ar-Isildur was dead i decided to post something about the word.
The name of Isildur, known to many as being Elendil's son and Aragorn ascendant, is in Quenya(high elven) and means "Moon servant". From Isil=Moon + -ndur/-dur=servant.
The word Ar means king in Adûniac(language of Westernesse) and comes from the Quenya word Tar=King/Queen. It was the title of all Westernesse kings after the Quenya was forbidden.
The form Ar-Isildur is a mixing of two languages and would be better as Tar-Isildur. Anyway Isildur was never a Westernesse king.
PS: If someone wants the name written in elvish letters, please tell me.
