Concerning Mahir

Recently I had read "Dragons of Summer Flame" by Margaret Weis & Tracy Hickman. There were mentioned creatures called shadow-wights, which were very like the mahir. They are pieces of nothingness which come to their victims and whisper them words of despair until these victims turn into nothing.
Hint: look at mahir flavor text.
