i was thinking with all this discussion about mahir, that i might bring up the an idea. i was thinking that maybe mahir are the spirits produced when the bonemen are made.(bonemen are from chimera)
they could also be he spirits of changelings that are so evil that even when the body is destroyed, they keep trying to kill things(also they are found in similar places)
or they are the spirits of fetches, you see that thing shoot out of them when they die and maybe it doesn't stay blue and because they are not on their own world, they cannot leave so their spirits remain and try to get energy by sucking the life out of people so that they can get home(why mahir are only in myth 2)
or they are actual beings, with bodies, that roam around and appear to hover(only reason that i would think this is because they can be hit with swords and arrows)
or the are the "shade" part of any shade, that is one with the body while the shade is whole, but is left there when the shade's body is destroyed. or when a particularly advance shade sends his spirit out, and it is killed, then the resulting shade is like mazzarin in "the watcher" from tfl, who is relatively powerless against anybody and cannot harness the dreams that a normal shade would have.
