Shiver perhaps may have been quiet a Hottie (several thousand of years ago) : ), And she was very aware of her good looks.
And perhaps all this time later she still thought she looked great.. or knew just how ugly she was but could not accept it and she psycologicly blocked it out.

Could the Deceiver been trying to lure her in to kill him as Rabican did? But she had learned her lesson, andwas hastey to retreat.
