Worldknot Workings. :--)

Nb: I'll be reiterating lots of basic stuff, but I can't think of any way to make sense without saying it, so bear with me.

1) Ok, during the Great War the Dark haven't leared how to use Worldknots. Odd, considering that at least Balor, Soulblighter, Shiver and the Deciever would have known how to use them during the Wolf Age. The fact that in Homecoming they surround and then destroy the knot in Covenant defiantely shows that they know of the purpose of the Worldknots, and as I've said it's very strange that they don't use them. I'll come back to this.
So they don't use them -but- The Head tells us in [i]Force Ten from Stoneheim[/i] that the Dark have learnt how to use the knots, resulting in the Legion risking their lives to destroy an invaluable strategic resource. So, we are led to believe that the Deciever's plans to cross the Cloudspine via Worldknot is foiled - fair enough, but what about [u][i][b]all the other Worldknots[/b][/i][/u], not only in TFL but in Myth II? Why on earth don't the Dark use them, EVER, if they know how?
Perhaps they don't.
Nobody in their right minds would trust The Head to be doing the Light kind favours - perhaps because in this instance there was no artefact to collect/Fallen Lord to 'kill,' the liar was making the whole thing up in order to cripple the Light in two ways - after all, with the knot destroyed, who could prove The Head wrong? There's no proof he was right, either, but I doubt that was considered a bigger problem amongst all the larger problems of the War and The Head.
If, therefore, the Dark couldn't use the knot, then perhaps, like the madrake healing ritual, they would only effect good people (no, I'm not suggesting that if a Thrall attempted to use it it would dissolve or something ;) ). (Legal disclaimer: iron said that before, or at least something similar).
Ok, onto the teleporting powers of the Worldknots.
It seems to me that they are limited in where they can go. Otherwise destroying the knot West of the Cloudspine would have been pointless, as otherwise the Legion would have been a much more mobile and effective force.
I've got three thoughts as to how they may be limited. Firstly, they might be limited by range. Short and simple idea.
Secondly, perhaps each knot can only go to certain destinations, designated by the symbols on the knot, each symbol representing a certain knot/group of knots. Note that the symbols on the Force Ten knot change sixty years on - maybe to reflect the fact that the knot is broken?
And finally, perhaps the possible designations are detemined by some aspect of the user - again, possible explanation for changing symbols.
Your thoughts? Other ideas?
