Soulblighter

I have played all 3 myth stories, and I must admit that I am wondering about something: how did Damas (and Ravanna for that matter)went from being such a good and honorable warrior to the disfigured, cruel and insane fiend whom Alric killed 60 years after the great war? I mean Connacht I can somewhat understand - there's some kind of curse involved, a cycle in which the greatest hero of an age kills the Leveller only to be twisted and become the Leveller reborn.

Connacht becoming Balor I can understand. I also can take Myrdred becoming the Deceiver. But how did Damas and Ravanna become Soulblighter and Shiver?
