The true nature of the Tain

In principia Mythica, it claims that the tain is not a mini universe but instead a portal to another dimension.
This is full of it.
It is obvious because when in the Tain in Myth II, parts of the tain are voids ie no space. So as the Tain is fractured and only partial so is the universe inside.
If it was a portal this wouldn't happen.
