I'm poised to continue devouring these novels, but I'm stuck. What's the order I'm supposed to read them? And just exactly how many are there?
I have nine of the books, all but "The Silver Spike" which I am aware is supposed to be a stand-alone novel. I doubt that very much, as I have heard many times that it continues where certain other books left off. But, which ones? Grrr..
I thought that "The Silver Spike" came between "The White Rose" and "Shadow Games" because it was listed that way on the page where it says 'other books by glen cook'. Until I read a review of it [The Silver Spike] somewhere that was something like this: 'omg don't read the silver spike until you read the books of the south!'
Isn't "Shadow Games" the first book of the south? Yes. That would mean the Silver Spike was listed incorrectly. Why?
The only list I'm positively sure of is:
1) TBC
2) Shadows Linger
3) The White Rose
the rest of the titles' order is foggy
Once I find the Silver Spike, and get a response, I can continue eating these great books. I hope this helps anyone out there who is looking to maybe start reading them. You won't regret it, imho.
Bottom question is: in what order am I meant to read the books pertaining to The Black Company? Please note I'm not really asking for a chronology of what books happened first and next and so on... a chronology sometimes doesn't pertain to the kind of list I'm looking for. Example: sometimes books that happened in the past are Meant to be read later, as prequels.
If the Black Company series happens to be meant to be read as a straight chronology, it makes things simpler. I don't know if it is, however. Haven't gone further than The White Rose yet.
