The Deciever and Shiver

Once again I find myself speaking of the controversial topics of Myth. Is the Deciever really dead? I really doubt that he is. They never talk about him after he kills Shiver and "dies," but then again they never actually say he died. Oh, and another thing, its quite possible to kill Shiver in the very beginning of the level, and i have done it many times, and have saved films. Thus the deciever does not die, and the level is actually passed if you kill here right away. I think bungie just left it open to speculation, but I really doubt he died. He wouldn't have just left himself open to die after that, he's smarter than that, and he would know shiver's magical power.
