the Leveler is Alric

Everybody (including those dumb j-men and herons) talks about the Level as if he were one person. But he can't be, because the job of the leveler, so far as anyone can tell, is population control so one race doesn't gain ascendancy. Balor, if I'm not mistaken, tried to take over the world. Alric tried to stop him from taking over the world. But Alric wasn't really interested in taking over the world, he only did it out of necessity. So, by the very definition of "leveler", Alric is that, and not Balor. Connacht was a leveler, but he stopped being one when he fell. Balor instead may be thought of as a hero, but a dark hero. Alric was the one who wanted everyone free and equal.

That flips every theory about the level on its head, because now the leveler is an influence that seeks to protect life as much as it can. That dark hero seeks to protect the life of its cronies at the expense of everyone else's life. But, if that is so, why does the leveler-avatara go crazy?

Or maybe the "leveler" is two parts: dark hero and light hero. The leveler is a deity who plays the two sides against eachother, sort of like a jeweler will cut a diamond with only another diamond.

Whatdya think?

PS sorry about the tacky joke. It was lame, looking back on it. =)
