In Response To: Re: Gh™lsbane's Cycle (Again...) (Heron Guard King)

: yeah, but we didn't hear about Balor reborn, we only hear
: about Balor. There wasn't Balor reborn, so he couldn't
: have been killed before. We know that he was Connacht
: and than he became Balor and fight against Light.
: Bungie didn't say about Balor reborn.

Okay just because we didn't hear about him it doesn't mean he wasn't reborn. Alric says he was KILLED before. We know that Connacht disappeared into the East and was presumed dead, that means noone knows how he died so if Alric was talking about Connacht dying, he wouldn't be telling the truth.

: Ok, but think, if you are JW, you has seen the most
: terrible nightmare: Myrkridia. Do you think you will
: scare of it? JW fought myrks and I don't think he
: would be scared to know about Cycle.

Thank you, you just illustrated my point. These soldiers have seen the endless armies of the undead, they have witnessed hordes of reanimated corpses trudging towards them as far as the eye can see. Their friends have been torn limb from limb by towering stone creatures and they have seen the horrors of the Tain and the Myrkridian skull platforms. So why does Alric not tell them the truth. My point is he does.

: I don't know why Alric didn't tell about Cycle, mb he
: didn't know it, he told them what Head told him. And
: as we know Head didn't tell them all true. Or mb he
: had no time to tell all story. Nobody knows.

Okay, I don't think Bungie would make a game where the most powerful and influential figure on the side of righteousness tells his troops something which isn't true or which he doesn't know fully right at the end of the game where we are supposed to find out some of the secrets set up beforehand.

: But like
: I said before, there was no Balor reborn, so he
: couldn't have been killed before. Mb he wanted to say
: Connacht reborn, but not Balor reborn. Who killed
: Balor before? He wasn't killed, we only knows that he
: get out form Muirthemne and that become Balor, than he
: came with Dark army and The Great War begin. And
: before he was Connacht of The Wolf Age. So nobody
: could kill him before.

Okay, so Balor is originally supposed to return in approximately the year 2000 A.E. The events in TFL take place around 2500 A.E. In the prologue we know that the armies of the dark "came again into the lands of men" 30 years previously so this leaves about 470 years where Balor comes back to where he actually does something. The use of again in that sentence makes me think that this has already happened in the JW's lifetime or recent history. So Balor comes back in 2000 A.E. he is not particularly powerful but does important things like bring in Fetch, Myrmidons, etc. He is then killed about 400 years later. When he is reborn he is very powerful and begins destroying the civilized nations starting with Muirthemne and continuing into the West. I see his power as coming at a price. The reincarnation of the Leveller is doomed to only survive a short time, say 30 years then he is killed but in this time he does a lot of damage.

So, when you say he leaves Muirthemne then comes back as Balor then the Great War starts you are leaving oput about 500 years of history. So he could very easily be killed during that time and then return more powerful. That single fact that he comes back more powerful suggests that he is using the power for the same purposes and they tried to kill him before but it didn't work, like the Hydra in Classical mythology. So this time, Alric must throw his head in the Devoid to correct the mistake that was made previously where he was just killed.

Oh, if you or anyone else wants to argue about dates, the ones I included in the table are approximate only to make it easier to set out and calculate the splits in the ages/eras.
