Myth historical references

I've found several things in Myth that resemble events that actually happened. For instance, Myrmidons will "...spend the eve before battle in front of a mirror, rather than in bedrol" (maybe the quote isn't correct, but you what I mean). In Herodothes "Histories" I've found that Spartans spent morning before battle at Thermopylae combing their hair. Also, Myrmidons were tribe in Thessaly; great Greek hero Achilles was their king.

If you can name any other similarities related to Myth - World [our world!] history, please post them as a reply!

P.S. I'm sorry for any misspelling in this text.
