Appearance of the Watcher

Having little else to discuss, I suppose we can argue about the appearance of the watcher, and how we look at the pixelated blur of him in TFL?

He appears to be a man of a very large build. Only a few things adorn his body (from crown to sole):

1) the helmet, the most obvious part of his armor, imho.
2) his cape
3) gauntlets
4) cutlass in hand (it appears to be much too thick to be a scimitar, or any normal saber i've ever seen)
5) skirt or kilt of some kind. it has the appearance of chain mail armor
6) boots. he's definitely wearing some kind of footwear. if you look carefully, you can make out the tiny "Nike" :P

Eh, and the golden shaft bone tipped arrows count too, I suppose. I always doubted, however, that they were part of his regular wardrobe. >:^]

But, in the headshot, what is that orange-ish blob flowing out from beneath his helmet?
I always thought its his long red/blonde hair. Then it occurred to me just before it might be an extension of his cape, coming around the neck and descending down his chest. However, in the bitmaps of the stoned unit, it appears his chest is bare. Muscles and areola are visible in the standing sprites without being covered with any kind of cloth, leading me to think that the blob is his hair, descending to just below the collarbone.

Which leads to an interesting idea:

reddish hair?
bare chest?
kilt?...

...berserk?
