In Response To: New Leveller Theory *PIC* (Ghôlsbane)

: When Soulblighter dissapears at the end of the TFL level
: "Across The Gjol", he heads for the Great
: Devoid. Why does he abandon his master? Why does he go
: to the Devoid? Does he know Alric's plan to bring
: Balor's head there? Why does he assume Alric will
: succeed? These questions have been troubling me for a
: while now but maybe it has something to do with the
: Cycle being broken...or not.

Consider the picture you see when you loose the great devoid... soulblighter, instead of completing the task, he claims the head. And in M2 the opening film shows us SB gets really pissed off when the dwarf throws balor's head into the devoid...
I don't know if he wanted it to ressuecrt Balor? actually the fact that he claims the head kinda supports your theory, the leveler's right hand takes his head to ressurect him. But if he didn't want Balor to die from the begining, why have he stopped following the legion after the battle at the Gjol?

: Maybe Soulblighter is the Leveller and knows it. It
: doesn't seem such a stupid idea if you think about it.
: We know Balor has been killed before but he returned.
: Maybe when he was killed in the year 2000 let's say,
: Soulblighter became the Leveller. When Balor came
: back, he could not return to his post but assumed he
: would. Soulblighter finds this out but keeps quiet for
: some reason or another.

: "What?!" I hear you say, but it's happened
: before. When Moagim died, he returns as Moagim Reborn.
: Wveryone thinks he is the Leveller, but waht do we
: find out, Mjarin is here. I think Mjarin was Moagim's
: right-hand man when he was around but kept quiet and
: "helped" the Cath Bruig until MR returns
: then he takes his rightful place. If that is true then
: Mjarin must be the evil reincarnation of Tireces'
: right-hand man. As Damas was Connacht's. It makes more
: sense if you see the table I've made but can't upload
: damn it!

Nice :)

: Also, Soulblighter might not have followed the legion
: across the Gjol because he wanted Balor to be killed
: and then he lured Alric to the Devoid and when the
: head was thrown in, the huge explosion destroyed it
: and Soulblighter could continue his plans alone. So he
: fled to the untamed lands and plotted...

I am not sure about all of this... BTW i think alric and what is left of the legion got to the devoid by teleporting, the map in the pregame for the great devoid shows a broken line from Rhin'non, just like it shows when using world knots. So SB didn't exactly lure to the devoid I think.

BTW, isn't there a theory saying that there was an explosion trap set in the great devoid for alric by SB? whats that all about?

: In my table, the cycle of resurrection goes like this. A
: good guy comes along and with his sidekick rids the
: world of evil. They die after a normal lifespan as
: they are mortal or are killed. 500 years later, the
: hero is reborn as the Leveller. He prepares an army of
: undead and gathers the evil dudes like the Watcher
: together and makes his move destroying what he set up
: in his golden age. 500 years later, the leveller is
: killed but his sidekick is reborn as the new passive
: Leveller. When the old Leveller comes back he thinks
: he'll take his mantle back but he doesn't. After
: another 500 years of evilness, a new hero dude is born
: and saves the world. The old Leveller is killed once
: and for all and the new sidekick Leveller comes into
: his own thus causing some more havoc before being
: killed too thus ending the darkness.

: This actually shows that the cycle is not broken but
: working perfectly. The thing is, the Dark Ages are
: 1000 years long but the Light Ages are only 500 years
: long unless you say the beginning of the Dark Ages are
: actually Light but with a hidden Dark presence but I
: don't think that works. Also, there are two Levellers
: per Dark Age. One active, one passive till the end
: when it is too late.

: Trust me, it works. If anyone finds some webspace for me
: I'll post the table. I'm sure you'll find something to
: complain about though.

Although your theory is nice and prooved nice, I just don't think thats what bungie ment... quete:
"Soulblighter was not The Leveler. He may have been if he had survived into the next millennium - but, in his attempt to force the cycle, he perished and almost certainly will suffer at the hands of those who set it in motion. It is even conceivable that because of his actions the cycle has been broken, but we cannot be sure - at least not for another nine hundred and forty years."

This is the exact quete from M2 epilouge. Why does no one ever pays any attention to this? OK so maybe we can try to disproof that with many theories but I really don't think bungie was DIRECTLY misguiding us with that text, because it is very direct. I didn't see anyone relating to the other stuff written there which sound pretty important, suddenly we hear about beings (the dark gods i suspect) that set the cycle in motion, and about SB might have broken the cycle when he came back... So its written there very strictly, soulbighter was not the leveler, soublighter tried to force the cycle. I just dont think Bungie is misleading us so directly...
