Of Soulless and Wights *M3 Spoilers*

Myth III adds quite a bit of information on the creation and origin of a number of Dark creatures... including the Soulless and Wights. However this information seems to contradict that of earlier Myths.

MYTH III FLAVOR TEXT: WIGHTS
... The necromantic art of creating wights is not an involved process, but a timely one. Into the selected cadaver's chest and stomach, a mixture of dung, night-polyps, and Kzir fly larva are inserted. The cavity is then tightly sewn up and the Dream of Undeath is bestowed. The corpse must be caged and left to ripen for at least two moons - great care must be taken not to injure the specimen ...

* I thought the Dream of Undeath remained undiscovered and Wights came from decaying Ghasts?
Theory: This process describes an early, perhaps the original, wights.
Theory: The Dream of Undeath was required at first but simpler necromantic rituals led to the creation of the ghasts which were useful even before being "farmed" into wights.

MYTH III FLAVOR TEXT: SOULLESS
... Hollow Men are coveted for their retained intellect. In creating these constructs, the mind of the subject must be a willing one. This requires the creator to divine the one thing that was once loved by the subject'a memory or ideal -and then extinguish that memory from its mind. Once its reason for living is gone, the soul is easily corrupted - Intelligence without conscience...

Theory: Again, perhaps the original Soulless were constructed in this way. Requiring the necromancer to individually alter each and every "new recuits" memories is pretty ridiculous.
Theory: This doesn't seem to jive with the earlier Myth statements that they have had their souls stolen. Perhaps this references the Soulless Mark I.
Theory: As the Soulless of Myth III look a bit different (no quiver on back) and work a bit different (vastly different sound effect for bolts) they may be a variant of the later types.
