I know this doesn't have any direct bearing on how Myth soldiers felt about civilians, but one might remember that TFL was largely based on The Black Company books. And in the Black Company series, peasents were treated pretty poorly, and seen as nuciences who had little bearing on the larger scheme of things.

Heck, in later books(minor spoiler), camp followers(basicly parasitic civilians that followed the armies around) were used as cannon fodder in some battles, basicaly just driven into the enemy by the hundreds as a diversion.

One more quasi-cannon piece of evidence, the villager flavor text from the TFL beta 3:

"The humble farmers who feed the western nations, suffering the worst in
any conflict, conscripted before age 15 to block the passes of Bagrada
and Seven gates with their bodies."

Pretty mean if you ask me:P
