: The Journal Entry from "The River of Blood"
: tells us that a Berserk came from Willow. Now, Willow
: is not part of the Northlands where the Berserk are
: from. What was he doing there then? Where did the
: Stone come from if not from around that village. Or
: (and I just thought of this), what if this was a
: pick-up point? What if the Berserk was told to hang
: out in Willow and await a package to be delivered to
: him? Hmmm.....

: Zandervix

Remember, the berzerk tribes had been fighting along with the westerners for sometime, so it would not be unusual for them to be in any of the Free Cities.

Willow is on the coast. Since the Northmen are very good sailers I dont think it is to far a stretch that they may have recovered it from the sea. Or, as you suggested, Willow may have been a drop off point.

As for the debate about weather or not he the zerk used a world knot... I'd have to say no.

First, the journal writer emphisised the distence between Rhi'anon and Willow, which suggest a very long run. I doubt he would have seemed quite as impressed if the guy had just appeared out of the knot (which incidentaly was probably back in enemy hands by the time this was going on).

Secondly, we don't know if Tandom boasted a world knot (do we?) which means that the Nine lost their only remaining knot when madrical fell. Now unless the man left while the city was being sacked he could not have known of its fall and so could not have informed Alric.

And before you say that that is exactly what could have happend, think of this. If you are one of the surviving nine and your most importent city is about to fall do you

A) Go along with the plan of a comrad who at last report was suffering from desert maddness.

or

B) Use an incredably powerful artifact that might make the difference between victory or defeat, and incidentily, life or death for 100,000 solders and civilans.

Concitering that the most powerfull of the Fallen were either confermed dead or more than 1000 miles away, I think I would go with B and try to take out whatever lesser power was overwelming me.
